Roman shades are one of the oldest window coverings on the market, getting their name from being developed during Roman times. Traditional Roman shades are made out of fabric and use a pull cord to raise and lower the shade. Because of the cords, Roman shades are not necessarily child and pet safe, and have some stylistic challenges.
