Motorized Roller Shades

A couple recently bought a home in San Francisco and wanted to have Lutron motorized roller shades installed. They had Lutron® motorized roller shades in their previous home in New York, so they were very familiar with the features and benefits they provided. As in New York, the need for sun protection and yet not to block the view was high on their list. Additionally, having the shades motorized provided the couple complete control over view and light no matter where they were in the home.

The couple’s architect exclusively uses Blinds and Designs for all their window treatment and motorization jobs. Blinds and Designs being the experts on Lutron shades and motorization in the Bay Area was invited to the couple’s home to access scope of the project.

Whole House Solution

When we entered the home, we noticed large banks of windows including a sliding door going out to a patio. There were 30 windows in total that would need to be covered. Lutron roller shades were an excellent choice because they not only offered a clean contemporary look, they could accommodate the needs of the entire home. An off white sheer fabric weave was selected and installed throughout the main living space of their home to maintain the view while also diffusing harmful UV rays that could damage their furnishings.

Because the couple was in the process of remodeling their home, we were able to hardwire their roller shades and integrate into their current home automation system. If not, we could have gone wirelessly by going with Lutron’s ultra-quiet battery-operated shades.

Lutron have been around now for years and is best known for their silent motor operation. When you add motorization, you are given the power to control light with a touch of a button. You can control the light and shade levels in one room or throughout the entire home using a hand-held remote, wall-mounted keypad, or with your mobile device such as an iPad, iPhone or Android phone. No need to be home, raise or lower your shades remotely to give you the light control and privacy you desire.
